From the Last Chapter
Quetesh smiled more brightly and had Yami not been in love with his light, then he most likely would have fallen for the Goddess as many had before.
“Granted.” She said before kissing him on the forehead, the room around him faded and he shut his eyes.
As he reopened them he knew he was back in Yugi’s room, though he never left, the meeting was just in his mind.
Looking at the still sleeping boy he was holding, staring at him, he tried to get into his mind. And surprisingly, he was let through, and what he found scared him…
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((*)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Darkness swirled around him as he floated in the boy’s mind; different than the kind of darkness that someone would see if they shut their eyes, no this darkness was almost tangible.
Around him lights flashed in the darkness like lightening. He looked around and found himself falling down into a dream…
He was standing beside a younger Yugi, 16 and kneeling on the ground of an ancient platform. He recognized it as the place where him and Yugi had their last duel.
Yugi was on his knees, tears falling because he had just won. As Yami looked around, he saw that everyone else was disappearing, until only Yugi and him remained.
Yugi was sobbing and clenched his fists, hitting the floor, “All my fault…. It’s all my fault…” He heard him repeat like a mantra.
He was about to go and comfort him, when he was ripped away by another dream.
He stood now in a grassy meadow, the wind blowing gently, and standing only a few feet from him, was Yugi dressed in all white staring up at the blue sky.
He seemed so happy. And turned as if hearing his name called. Yami saw himself or a dream version of himself walked towards Yugi and the boy looked saddened and happy at the same time.
“Atemu…” He muttered, but Yami could still hear it.
The dream version smiled and reached out as if to stroke the younger boy’s cheek, but Yugi took a step back, “We can’t…I don’t want this to be another nightmare…” He said looking pained.
The dream phantom just shook his head, "It’s alright," He said touching the boy’s cheek gently and slowly disappearing.
Yugi grabbed for him, but was too late and he started to cry again.
Yami again wanted to run to his light but was pulled quickly out of the boy’s mind and slammed back into reality.
Yugi was shaking alittle and his eyes were tightly closed. Yami knew exactly what dream he was having and gently shook him to wake him up from it.
“Yugi…Yugi wake up.” He said shaking the boy’s shoulder. The light shook his head and tried to roll over. Yami stopped him and shook him a bit harder. “Yugi! Wake up.” He said louder.
Large amethyst eyes opened, shimmering with unshed tears. His eyes were unfocused as he studied Yami for a moment before he wrapped his arms tightly around Yami’s neck, pulling him closer and he cried into his chest.
“Yami, I-I thought you were gone again!” He said. The pharaoh nodded and wrapped his arms around the younger duelist to comfort him. “Don’t worry I’m not leaving anytime soon, I promise.” He said smiling gently when his hikari looked up at him to make sure he was telling the truth.
“Thank you…” He said letting the last of his tears fall…
